Tornado Tips

Knowing how to react when a tornado is headed for your home, is the key to surviving, experts say.

If you're at home when a tornado hit, the National Weather Service says on average, you have about 13 minutes to get ready for a tornado.

In that short time....there are things you can do to protect yourself and family:

*     If you have a basement ... Go there...
*    If not.. a bathroom or closet without windows.
*    If you have one.. grab a battery powered radio to monitor conditions tuned to 1310KZRG.
*    If there's enough time, get your wallets, prescriptions, and keys together.
*    Adults can put bicycle helmets and a good pair of shoes on their kids.
*    One recommendation from weather experts is to put small children in a car seat if you can get it from the car.
*    Pet owners should make sure animals have their collars and i-d tags on in case they become separated.

Do you think Republican presidential candidate John McCain will announce his choice of running mate this week?
Yes. He needs to get the media's focus off Obama's overseas adventure.
No. I think he'll wait until closer to the Republican national convention.
