Joplin Named A "2008 Choice City"

Business Development Outlook, a publication of the World Economic Development Alliance, recently named Joplin, Missouri as one of the 25 Choice Cities.  Joplin ranked 23rd on the list.  The list was topped by Charleston, West Virginia.  All metro areas in the United States were considered in this survey by Business Development Outlook.

The cities were chosen based on numerous criteria including cost of living, crime rates, access to transportation and quality of life. Joplin had outstanding economic growth in 2007, which was a factor in placing Joplin in the top 25.

"This recognition isn't just for the city of Joplin, but also for the two-county metropolitan area that has seen tremendous growth in the past several years.  This reaffirms that our area communities collectively have great business opportunities and offer a wonderful quality of living." said Rob O'Brian, President of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce.

Would you buy a SmartCar to save money on gas?
You bet! I heard that little car just got top marks in crash tests.
No way! I don't want to drive a car that looks like it's going to get beat up.
I don't know.... where do I put the wife and kids?
